Community Service

Guild members have been active in Community Service since 1987. More than 1000 quilts and placemats have been created and donated over the years. The Guild currently provides quilts and placemats to local non-profit organizations including Girls' Ranch, Kitchen Angels, New Mexico School for the Dear, La Luz, LaFarge Library, Villa Teresa, Esperanza, Rape Crisis Center, Viva Familia, Mentor Moms, New Vistas, La Otra Puerta, Gerard's House, and Foster Parents programs through NM Department of Children, Youth, and Families in Espanola and Santa Fe. Guild members also participate actively in Project Linus, sponsored by Janome through the Sewing Center of Santa Fe.

Community Service QuiltsThe Community Service committee welcomes donations pieced tops, and 100% cotton quilting fabric that is at least 1/4 yard in size (9" by 44" or 18" x 22"). Guild members share in the work of basting, quilting, and binding quilts for distribution. Our most needed quilt size is 40 x 60 inches in fabrics themed for juveniles, teens, and middle-aged women, but we accept new handmade quilts in all sizes.

For more information about Community Service, contact Deb Martinez or Marie Homan.

Right: A stack of quilts is a testament to the hard work by the Community Service quilters!
