New Mexico School for the Deaf Project: 2006
We Did It! The Guild was asked to supply "at least 80" twin-sized
quilts for the New Mexico School for the Deaf's new cottages.
In all, we are donating 95 or more quilts! So many Guild members
were involved in this project. Special thanks go to Helen Fabel,
Helen Moran, and Elisa Sims for their tireless dedication.
When the school year started, the Guild was invited to a ceremony
for each child to choose his/her quilt.
More photos are available in our Quilt Gallery. The childern
were so happy to receive the quilts. Their expressions are priceless.

According
to the Project
Linus website "Project
Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold
mission: First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of
security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill,
traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade
blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer 'blanketeers.'
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service
opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities,
for the benefit of children." The main sponsor of Project
Linus is Janome of America.
