Quilts of Valor Foundation request for Wartime machine quilters
QOVF has made a request for 'Wartime
machine quilters.' Please
contact QOVF if you can help.
The mission of the QOV Foundation is to cover ALL combat wounded
and injured servicemembers from the War on Terror whether physical
or psychological wounds with wartime quilts called Quilts of
Valor (QOVS).
This foundation is not about politics. It's about people.

made a request for school supplies & small toys (that need

MONTHLY MEETING UPDATES
New Location for MAY, JUNE, and JULY meetings
Due to construction, the monthly guild meetings for May, June,
and July will NOT be held at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds
building.
Our meetings are going to
be held at the Nancy Roderiguez Community Center.
The address is 1
Prairie Dog Loop.
It is literally 5 more minutes past the Rodeo grounds.
Here are the directions:
From Cerrillos road turn on Airport Road.
Make your first right on Lopez Lane.
Follow Lopez lane to Agua Fria.
Cross Agua Fria and go across the arroyo, up the hill (road goes
to the left), then you will see La Familia on the left, a park on the
right.
After La Familia Medical Center, there is a dirt road. This is Prairie
Dog Loop. Turn on this, follow it to the building, park in the lot, if
lot is full use the dirt to the side of the building.
It is a great place. It has windows! Two kitchens, tables and chairs
set up and bathrooms! Brand new building ! It is safe and nice!
Can't wait to hear your comments!

Santa Fe County Fair: President's Challenge
Theme: What's in Your Basket? (pdf with details)
It must contain a basket. Appliqued, Pieced or painted it doesn't matter
what the technique is. But must have a basket.
Size: 15" x 15" finished. Borders? You decide!
What's in your basket? You decide! Do you have eggs? Flowers? Fruit?
A puppy?
Must be turned in by July 30th before Cindy leaves work on Wednesday
the 30th. Do not drop off at the shop, unless it is a day that Cindy works.....Wednesday
and Friday will work the best, as I am off on some Saturdays.
It must have your name on it and the title of the your piece. We will
make signs with the name fo the quilt and assign it a number.
So now I ask you: "What's in your basket?"
Quilt Fiesta Prize Ribbons
As Quilt Fiesta draws nearer, we are asking members to make the one-of-a-kind prize ribbon toppers that have become one of our Guild's claims to fame. The process is not complicated and offers an opportunity for members to have fun and show off their cleverness and artistry. Susan Rojas will provide a demonstration on Monday, March 24th, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (immediately prior to the March regular Guild meeting). Please plan to join us to learn the general process, then we will provide you with the Fast2Fuse or Timtex needed to make your own ribbon. You don't need to bring anything except some paper to jot down a note or two. If you want to create a ribbon topper but cannot make it to the demonstration, please contact Susan Rojas at 471-7419 or Deb Martinez at 471-1077 for supplies and general information. You may drop off completed ribbon toppers at Santa Fe Quilting. Please put completed tops in a plastic sandwich bag labeled "Susan Rojas or Deb Martinez" so that they will end up in the right place.
Quilt Fiesta 2008 Notes
- DATES CHANGED: Quilt Fiesta 2008 will be held from
Tuesday through Sunday, October 17th - 19th, 2008.
- Donation Quilt volunteers needed: The Donation
Quilt is moving toward it's final borders which will be hand
appliqued. A small section of applique is being worked on right
now and embroiderers will begin soon. Timing is good for the
quilt. We need volunteers who will help tear the paper off
the back when the quilt is completed. I am not sure if we have
a volunteer to coordinate drop off sites and sale sites for
the summer but talk to Cindy if you are interested in helping.
We have a few Y-seam that need to be made so if you like that
kind of work please call Mary at 473-3747.
- Please visit the Quilt Fiesta page
for updates as well. Category listings, committee chairs, current
needs, etc.
