Quilts of Valor
Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild joins Quilts of Valor (QOV) as a local group in making quilts to cover war wounded, injured service members, and veterans.
Quilts of Valor is an on-going project to cover New Mexico veterans and service men and women that have been deployed. Seventeen quilts were provided to a New Mexico National Guard unit deployed in 2015 and 7 quilts for New Mexico veterans.
As we continued making QOVs, we were made aware of a New Mexico National Guard unit that would be returning home in November 2016. We provided 125 Quilts of Valor to this National Guard unit in December, 2016. In addition, during Quilt Fiesta Santa Fe in October, 2016 we presented 8 QOVs to New Mexico veterans from service in Afghanistan, VietNam, Korea, and WWII. These, along with an additional twelve QOVs presented to other New Mexico veterans added up to a grand total of 145 Quilts of Valor presented in 2016.

Would you like to help?
We presently have unfulfilled requests for QOV quilts and can always use help. There are many ways to volunteer to work with QOV:
- Joining the QOV mini-group when available,
- Quilting tops made by other guild members,
- Binding quilts made by other guild members,
- Making presentation pillow cases,
- Making quilt tops,
- Donating fabric,
- Donating batting, and
- Donating financially to help purchase fabric and batting as well as pay postage to send the quilts to the recipients.
The recommended size for a Quilt of Valor quilt is 60" x 80", though quilts will be accepted ranging in width from 55" to 72" and length from 65" to 90".
